Front doors in Epsom: composite and aluminium doors matched to the house
Many 1930s semis in Ewell and Stoneleigh have a recessed porch, and few still have their original timber door. A new front door is often added to a window job, as in our West Ewell examples.
Composite doors
A composite door has a solid insulated core under a moulded skin, and comes in panel styles that match an inter-war or Victorian front. It is the usual choice for a semi: secure, warm, and with a colour that lasts. It is also cheaper than timber or aluminium.
Aluminium entrance doors
For a larger detached house in Ashtead, Woodcote or Headley, a flat-faced aluminium door with a long bar handle and side lights suits a modern or remodelled front. It is the dearest of the three and matches aluminium windows exactly.
Timber doors
The Article 4 directions in Stamford Green, Ewell Village and Ewell Downs Road cover front doors as well as windows. There, a painted timber door made to the original pattern is the realistic choice. Outside those streets we would usually steer you to composite, which needs no repainting.
Side lights and canopies
Glazed side lights are priced as part of the door. Porch roofs and brick work are survey items.
